What do we offer?
Master in Computational Finance (MCF)
The Master in Computational Finance (MCF), offered by the School of Computing (RAF) at Union University in Belgrade, is a groundbreaking program in Europe that integrates practical finance with programming, data analysis, and cutting-edge technologies like machine learning, AI, and blockchain. Taught entirely in English, the MCF equips students with the skills necessary to excel in both the finance and tech sectors by focusing on hands-on problem-solving through programming in Python and R.
What sets this program apart is its comprehensive approach, which combines practical knowledge in finance, business, and technology. Students work on projects that bridge the gap between financial theory and real-world applications, learning from both top-tier professors and peers. The MCF’s teaching staff and advisory board feature professionals with senior management experience at leading global firms such as Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Barclays Bank, and Big 4 consultancies, as well as academics with PhDs from prestigious universities in the US and Europe.
Participants include highly motivated economists, business professionals, engineers, programmers, and mathematicians from Serbia and around the world. They collaborate in mixed groups on projects, gaining insights from each other and learning to understand both the technical and business sides of problems. The program’s interdisciplinary approach ensures that students, regardless of their background, develop a shared understanding and vocabulary, fostering productive collaboration between domain experts and technical professionals.
The MCF offers two tracks: a fully accredited Master’s degree program for those meeting the formal academic requirements, and a Short-Cycle program for individuals who may not have a qualifying degree but still wish to gain advanced skills. Both tracks involve the same rigorous coursework, but only the Master’s degree track includes a thesis component.
Applications are currently open for the 2024-25 academic year, with the program starting on December 1st, 2024. The program begins with a two-month Bootcamp focused on foundations in programming, math, and finance, followed by two semesters of advanced coursework.
