The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FVM) of the University of Belgrade is a higher education and scientific institution founded in 1936. It is located in the vicinity of the city centre, in 18 Bulevar Oslobodjenja, a few hundred metres from the Slavija square. The main activity of the Faculty is the education of students of integrated, specialist and doctoral academic studies, provision of continuing education to veterinary surgeons, doing scientific research and professional work with the aim of educating experts in the field of animal health protection and welfare, food safety and the prevention of infectious diseases. There are currently 1,500 students studying at the Faculty, being lectured by about 100 teachers, 30 assistants and several professional associates, laboratory technicians and technical staff. Departments, clinics, laboratories, the central library, the Centre for development and
international cooperation, the Centre for publishing and teaching appliances, the Centre for quality assurance and improvement, the Information and communication center and the Secretariat which is
in charge of coordinating the work of the Faculty participate in the organization and implementation of activities at the Faculty.
The Faculty is a member of the European Association of Veterinary Faculties (EAEVE) and has been working intensively on harmonizing its study programme with European standards.

First year enrollment
Candidates take an entrance exam in biology and chemistry. Candidates who did not study Latin in high school take the additional exam in Latin.
The ranking list of candidates is made according to the overall results achieved in the high school and entrance exam. In addition to the general requirements for enrollment, candidates have to submit English language knowledge certificate: Cambridge Advanced Certificate in English (CAE)/IELTS (International English Language Testing System).

What do we offer
The main goal of the FVM is to educate and train students to provide all services in the field of veterinary medicine:
Recognizing and caring for sick animals, preventing the occurrence and spread of disease, protecting animal health and welfare and ensuring food safety in accordance with national and European regulations and standards.
By their example and advice, future veterinary surgeons contribute to raising the awareness of animal owners and breeders of the need to
protect animal health and welfare, produce healthy food of animal origin, preserve the environment and show readiness for continuous professional development and learning.

Veterinarski Glasnik
The Faculty publishes the national scientific journal Veterinarski glasnik, which is indexed in DoiSerbia, SCIndex and the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).
