University of Belgrade – Faculty of Architecture is the leading higher education institution for architecture and urban studies in the Western Balkans Region. We offer comprehensive education of future architects including a wide range of studies, which enable the sharing of knowledge and development of skills required for practicing architecture within interdisciplinary environment.

As one of the oldest established faculties within the University of Belgrade (the first study programme in the field of architecture was introduced in 1846), we have been the leading school for architecture and urban studies in the region for almost 170 years.

Our school is situated in the iconic building of technical faculties in the centre of Belgrade, one of the last classicist buildings built in Europe in the 20th Century. The building, built between 1925 and 1931, was the design of two renowned Serbian architects – Nikola Nestorović and Branko Tanazović. Curiously, the building was originally designed to host technical schools – a purpose it continues to serve almost a century later.

Study Program: Architecture

Master Studies – 2 years

Validated for RIBA course status, Master studies in Architecture are conceived to include and conciliate the fields of history and theory of architecture, architectural and urban design, urban planning, implementation of architectural structures, architectural technologies and structural engineering.

Studies are organized as specialized studies from the first semester, offering the following Modules: Architecture (A), Urbanism (U), Architectural Technology (AT) and Structural Engineering (SE).

Curricula include carefully selected tasks and topics with practical relevance, so as to ensure a link to the real practice. The study programme also includes internships, which are aimed at providing students with the opportunity to apply the acquired knowledge and to acquire direct practical knowledge and experience in architectural offices, and/or other public institutions.

Upon graduation students are awarded a degree and the title of Master of Architecture – M.Arch, with reference to the selected Module – A, U, AT, SE.

Study Program: Integral Urbanism

Master Studies – 2 years

Integral urbanism programme is an interdisciplinary study programme encompassing learning and research on spatial, technical, social and other issues relating to urban and regional planning and urban design. This study programme aims to provide future planners and urban designers with skills to create new solutions for effective, efficient and aesthetically satisfying organization and operation of the urban environment in a dynamic socio-economic and cultural environment with major impact on the urbanization process. Upon graduation students are awarded the title of Master of Urbanism.

Study Program: Architecture and Urbanism

Doctoral Studies – 3 years

As an institution with a long tradition in higher education in architecture and urban studies, the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Architecture draws on a wealth of historical achievements while striving to train professionals whose ideas and innovations forge new paths of advancement in architecture, arts and design, humanities and urban sciences. The University of Belgrade – Faculty of Architecture makes continuous advancements to its teaching and pedagogical practice, following contemporary trends in leading world universities. Closely adhering to the latest innovation in education has allowed the Faculty to maintain a high ranking in the European educational space.

The PhD study program is accredited by the National Accreditation Body as an interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary (IMT) study program, which includes knowledge and scientific research in the fields of technical-technological, social sciences and arts and humanities.

What do we offer

The University of Belgrade – Faculty of Architecture comprises 4 departments: Department of Architecture (A), Department of Urbanism (U), Department of Architectural Technologies (AT) and Department of History and Theory of Architecture and Art.
A department serves to organize a study program in one scientific-educational or artistic-educational field within relevant areas. Each department may, in cooperation with other departments, participate in classes in other scientific-educational or artistic-educational fields.
