WHO WE ARE?

The Technical Faculty in Bor, the only faculty of the University of Belgrade located outside the university headquarters, was founded in 1961 as a response to the expressed need for highly educated personnel in the field of mining and metallurgy during the dynamic development of the Bor Mining and Smelting Basin.

The activities of the Technical Faculty in Bor include the field of technical and technological sciences, and studies at this higher education institution are organized within the following study programs, accredited in 2020:

mining engineering (undergraduate, master’s and doctoral academic studies)
metallurgical engineering (basic, master and doctoral academic studies)
technological engineering (basic, master and doctoral academic studies)
engineering management (undergraduate, master’s and doctoral academic studies)
The teaching staff, who today teach at the Faculty, are mostly well-known and recognized scientific workers in our country and in the world, with a high citation index. This fact indicates that the competence of the teachers of this Faculty guarantees the high quality of the future staff, starting from engineering graduates to PhDs.

The Faculty also organizes other types of training for graduated experts, where the most important are seminars for innovation of knowledge organized according to specialized areas and with the engagement of the most competent lecturers from these areas.

In addition to education, the activity of the Faculty is also focused on scientific and research work, which includes fundamental, developmental and applied research, and the result is numerous printed works abroad and in the country, monographs, studies, projects, etc.

As part of its extensive publishing activities, the Faculty also publishes two international magazines. After more than three decades, the magazine “Glasnik rudarstva i metallurgije”, in 1997, grew into an international magazine Journal of Mining and Metallurgy, with two sections A – Mining and B – Metallurg, and since 2009, section B – Metallurg is located on the Science Citation India Ehpanded list. Another international journal published by the Faculty since 2006 is the Serbian Journal of Management.

What do we offer

The Technical Faculty in Bor is also the organizer of several scientific meetings:
The International October Conference on Mining and Metallurgy, as an international scientific conference, has been organized since 2002, it arose from the October Conference of Miners and Metallurgists – the oldest scientific conference with a tradition of 45 years, organized by the Technical Faculty in Bor in cooperation with the Institute of Mining and Metallurgy from Bor
Ecological Truth and Environmental Research, which has been organized as an international meeting since 2010 (in the period from 2010 to 2017 under the name Ecological Truth), arose from Ecological Truth – a meeting of national importance with international participation, which has been organized since 1992. in cooperation with the Institute for Health Protection “Timok” from Zaječar, the Center for Agricultural and Technological Research from Zaječar and the Association of Young Researchers from Bor
The International May Conference on Strategic Management, as an international conference, has been organized since 2013. It originated from the May Conference on Strategic Management, a conference of national importance with international participation, which has been organized since 2005.
International Mineral Processing and Recycling Conference, a gathering that has been organized since 2006. In the beginning, it was organized as a national meeting with international participation (Symposium on Recycling Technologies and Sustainable Development – SRTOR), and in recent years it has grown into an international scientific meeting with its current name.
International Symposium on Environmental and Material Flow Management, an international scientific meeting organized since 2011 in cooperation with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Zenica (BiH) and the University of Applied Sciences Trier, Environmental Campus Birkenfeld (Germany)
The Faculty also has developed international cooperation with numerous universities in the world, which through joint projects and other forms of cooperation, offers the opportunity for students and teachers of the Faculty to become more involved in the mobility processes characteristic of the modern European and world higher education space.

In order to encourage the scientific and professional extracurricular engagement of students, the Faculty organizes an Exhibition of scientific and research student works every year, and in 1992, the Club of Student Researchers “1902” was founded in connection with it. Also, the students of the faculty are active participants in Technology, Rudarijad, and Menageriad, where in addition to presenting the results of their scientific research, they also show their highly developed sportsmanship.

At the end of this brief review of the basic data, it should be pointed out that, in accordance with its mission and vision, the Technical Faculty in Bor continuously implements the outlined quality policy in all its activities, which aims at constant improvement and achieving the highest level of quality in accordance with the basic tasks and goals:

Basic tasks
satisfaction of the needs of users (students) in the field of basic, academic and doctoral studies, as well as special professional training programs, by providing an adequate response to the expressed needs in the environment for this type of education;
implementation of scientific research projects, independently or in cooperation with other institutions from the country and abroad;
application of development technical-technological solutions in practice;
provision of consulting services to users in our country and in the world;
organizing scientific and professional gatherings of national and international significance;
issuing publications of national and international importance,
publication of scientific results in national and leading world journals;
constant compliance with current scientific and professional knowledge.
Basic goals
constant improvement of the education process at all levels and the development of study programs that will be adapted to modern world achievements in science and the development of the educational process;
constant improvement of scientific work and placement of achieved results in the world’s leading journals from the SCI list;
connecting and creating a network in the educational and scientific European space with the most successful in order to take the best possible place in the company of the best;
development of competencies among graduate students in accordance with the best world practice with the aim of their effective and efficient integration into modern scientific, economic and social trends;
cooperation with economic and social organizations in the environment in order to solve technical problems and encourage development;
constant improvement of the educational process in accordance with the best world practice to ensure the horizontal and vertical mobility of students in accordance with the Bologna Declaration;
constant improvement of the quality management system;
provision of all the necessary resources needed for the realization of the set goals.
